Journeys for Good SMRT Campaign 2026

Mr Fong, 78, From a neighbour to Giving Care
For about two years, Mr Fong, 78, has volunteered with Blossom Seeds’ Medical Escort & Transport (MET) service. Living near 83-year-old Aunty Margaret, he steps forward whenever he is available to accompany her to medical appointments.
“It is meaningful to be able to help a friend in my neighbourhood.”
Through volunteering, Mr Fong has found purpose in caring for someone in his own community, showing that seniors can be not only recipients of care, but also a befriender and valued volunteers.

Aunty Margaret, 83, From Isolation to Connection
Living alone with chronic health conditions, 83 years old Aunty Margaret is frail and has benefitted on Blossom Seeds’ MET service for about a year to attend her medical appointments safely.

Since joining the Active Ageing Centre, she has become more socially connected and actively participates in centre activities. With the support of MET and the AAC, she is now able to stay connected, engage with her peers and enjoy greater confidence in community life.
Together, Mr Fong and Aunty Margaret show the circle of care in action, when seniors are supported, they can regain confidence, purpose and connection, and have opportunities to care for and contribute to others.

Encik Amin, 76 years old, Retiree Robin, 63 years old, retired tuition teacher
At 76, Encik Amin is embracing a new chapter of active ageing after more than five decades of service at Sembawang Mosque, where he retired as Chairman.
Having known Blossom Seeds for eight years, Encik Amin joined its Gym Tonic programme after retirement and has been participating for the past year. He said the programme has helped him feel healthier and more confident in walking, while also giving him opportunities to build new friendships with seniors from different racial backgrounds who exercise together with him.
For Encik Amin, Gym Tonic is more than exercise, it is a place to stay active, build connections and continue contributing to the community in his golden years.
At 63, retired tuition teacher Robin has found a new sense of purpose by giving back as a volunteer trainer at Blossom Seeds Gym Tonic.

Robin volunteers at the gym in the mornings, guiding fellow seniors through exercises, before teaching primary school students in the afternoons. Having personally benefited from Gym Tonic, he wanted to share what he had learned with his peers and neighbours.
He shared that volunteering has opened a new chapter after retirement, turning his own experience into encouragement for others, while staying active, connected and purposeful.
