Vesak Goodie Bag Distribution 2020
This year Vesak Goodie Bag Distribution came timely after the announcement of Post Circuit Breaker Phase II on 19 June 2020.
The volunteer briefings were held online and everyone finds it convenient to attend the briefing. This is definitely one positive change that COVID-19 has brought about. To prevent social mixing, more families were involved in the distribution this year.
Over the Saturday morning on 20 June 2020, our various partners from Gambas Befrienders, Silver Generation Office, BW Monastery and Assyafaah Mosque came to support us in this distribution. About 60 volunteers came in at staggered timings to distribute the goodie bags to 200 vulnerable seniors & families under the care of Blossom Seeds programmes.
It was inconvenient to carry the bags in the drizzling rain and the drivers have to move slowly to look for the address. All this heartwork was worth it as the bags brought many smiles to the seniors. Many seniors called the centre to thank the team for the grocery items. We thank all our community partners, donors, sponsors and volunteers for their support to have brought cheers to these seniors and families.

It was a good experience to meet different people, and just casually speak to them when we went to each senior's house to distribute. We had fun meeting the children who were excited to see us, and being able to have that social interaction after the long period of isolation was really worth it.

My daughter helped out during this event to distribute goodie bags to seniors who are in need or less well off. I think it was a good experience for her as she is able to see the different sides of Singapore.
